APA Page Number Header / Microsoft Word

How to Make a Page Number Header Using Microsoft Word

NOTE:  The phrase “Running head” is no longer needed on the title page for student papers.  Instead, only include the page number at the top. The guidelines for paper format are found on the APA 7th edition site.  Formatting for the Page Header now states, "The page header appears within the top margin of every page of the paper. For student papers, the page header consists of the page number only." Only professional papers require a running header with a title.

See an examples of the APA 7th student paper format at the Purdue OWL site and the APA site.
