How To Access Microsoft Office Without Downloading

If you prefer, there are also other ways to access MS Office without downloading:

  • You can use MS office via Remote Desktop.  There is a tab on this guide to help you navigate BTC Remote Desktop access.
  • You can check out a laptop from the BTC Library. All BTC Library laptops have MS Office installed.
  • Students have web access to Office 365;  login is required. The web version does NOT include MS ACCESS.

Download Microsoft Office

NOTE:  The license for MS Office now includes MS ACCESS for PCs only. Mac users will need to continue to use Remote Desktop for access to ACCESS.

Begin by logging into your BTC student email account.  Go to this link and type in your user name (last name and last 4 digits of your student ID or ctcLink ID number). Be sure to use the correct server address:  beltc.ctc.edu.  For example, mouse0004@beltc.ctc.edu.

When prompted at the next screen, enter your network password.  Then click "Sign in."

When you are in Outlook email, click on the icon with the three horizontal dotted lines in the upper left hand corner, next to the word Outlook.

A drop down column will appear; click on "Office."

A new tab/window will open. Click on the "Install Office" button on the far right.

A new box will open with instructions for downloading and a file will appear in the lower left corner.

A pop-up box will ask permission to install; click "RUN." 1) click on and begin the download; 2) respond "YES" to start installing; and 3) wait for complete installation; 4) open MS Office and begin use.

Please let us know if you have any problems with the download. You can contact us by email, phone, chat, Zoom, or visit us in the Library; see our Contact Information.
