Creating a Hanging Indent in MS WORD

 

Create a hanging indent - Microsoft Support

  1. Select the text where you want to add a hanging indent.
  2. Go to Home > Paragraph dialog launcher. > Indents and Spacing.
  3. Under Special, select Hanging. You can adjust the depth of the indent using the By field.
  4. The APA Format required indent is 0.5 inches.
  5. Select OK.

How to Create a Hanging Indent in Google Docs

  • Choose Format> Align & Indent> Indentation options from the top navigation bar. 
  • Choose "Indentation Options"
  • Under "Special indent" use the drop-down menu and select "Hanging"
  • Add " 0.5 inches" to the box to the right of "Hanging".  (The APA Format required indent is 0.5 inches).
  • Click on Apply.
